touch radio visit

I recently went to the touch radio studio in kenilworth by coventry, we were being talked to my many members of the touch radio team, we were told how important the radio is about being a DJ the different marketing the news and touch radio itself, the target audience for touch radio is a modest 25-40 year old base, this is the main target audience they aim for but it doesn’t stop other listeners liking the radio station. the website is an important aspect of touch radio, mostly because you can get a bit of money from it from advertisement on the website, there is also the touch fm radio on their which gets a lot of people listening to it you also have details on the DJ’s that do the breakfast shows etc and while the song is playing if you like it you can download it straight from the website. you can also see all the local news and can comment on it on the website. if you do the breakfast show you will have to be prepared to wake up at 4:30 in the morning and get yourself into work for 6 at the latest as you will have to plan for the day ahead, you have to work in 4-6 hour periods and have to switch loads of buttons on and off etc and try and get correct timings on when to switch things on as if you are at least 1 second off it sounds bad on air. as you know touch radio is a commercial radio station and that means it gets it’s money from adverts, touch fm do marketing where they go to a store/ shop and get some deals where say you have to guess the price of what an item cost to get customers to get in the store, touch radio gets a couple of grand out of this, they do this about twice a month depending on what stores/shop wants them to. as i have said earlier on in the blog touch radio is a commercially owned radio station and their target audience is 25-40 years old but that doesn’t stop them putting songs on for the teens, touch radio is owned by a company called quidem.

i am blogging a list of 5 questions that i would like to ask about radio

1) How long does it take to plan what you are going to say live and how big are your notes?

2) How do you decide what type of songs to put on?

3) How and when do you organize how the station day is going to work? for example when to put songs on and when to put weather forecasts in

4) How many notes and computer screens do you look at during the station? and do you frequently look at your notes?

5) When the show is finished do you look back at what you have done or do you plan for the next day ahead?

A sadenning games as chastown loose to nuneaton 1-0 after a 49th minute goal. Chasetown played really well but we couldnt score. hopefully we can get promoted next season

EVALUATION

We did a web-vert on The Wedgwood Museum which is in Stoke On Trent. The Wedgwood Museum is mostly famous for its pottery but its not all about the pots. In our web-vert we were trying to focus on the wow factor and i think that we met the tasks that we set out to do. Through the evaluation i will be telling you my thoughts, the audiences thoughts and what my clients thought of our web-vert. I will be also telling you what we set out to do and how we did it.

I think that the product is appropriate for the audience we aimed it for. We aimed our web-vert for all ages because we wanted different type of action so we could attract all ages. We used Camelot camera medallion maker for the younger aged and some pots for the elder age.

Our web-vert was made mostly in the part of a week. At first we were putting the clips and pictures in and editing them to the correct size. We were then putting animations and adding music in the background. I think that our technical qualities were not as good as the others. We had to rush it a bit so we didn’t have as much time as the others, we did use some good animations though. Our group worked together and we all did different parts of the editing and filming.

We all had a go on being in the camera and we all were on operating the camera so we all did the different parts that we had to do.

At the start of the editing we were struggling and at one time we had to start again, but in the end after hard work from our group we finished our web-vert in time.

When we were filming we used the time effectively so we could get what we wanted on camera. Most of the things we filmed weren’t used but it was best that we filmed loads and pick what we wanted. A Couple of days later one person out of each group went again to get some more clips of museum. On this trip other people went in year 7 , 8 and 9. When they were there they were being filmed by the three that went and the three that went were also filming some more pots and vases.

Most of our audience thought it was well presented and i was pleased with that. Some of the audience also thought it was good and that the wow factor stood out in our web-vert. It werent all good news though as the audience also thought our quick flashes didn’t work. Our clients also thought our web-vert was good.

We had to make a couple of changes our work. At the start we found out that some of the bits didn’t work like the ‘welcome to the wedgwood museum’ bit. We also changed the start. instead of having the front of the museum we had Nigel Spicer talking about the ceramics the museum has. We moved the front of the museum right to the end of our web-vert. I think that our web-vert was good. I think that the success of our web-vert was the fact that we were using the wow factor of the museum and clearly in our web-vert we shown the wow factor the museum has.

I think that the happy clips of me and jack and some of the powerful pictures shows the wow factor of the museum so i think this good. The music we had was also happy so i think the music went with our web-vert. I think that the failure of our web-vert was probably the quick flashes we had in between the clips and posters. The audience thought this to. I think this was because we were running out of time we had less time to look at all the different animations that we could use. This was a bit of a down point but overall i think that our web-vert was very good.

Τhe picture at the top right of the fire engine is a feature of the museum which stands out. It shows that wedgwood isn’t all about pots. The picture by it of Jack by the camelot picture taker is something which is part of our wow-factor. You need to watch it to see the wow-factor part. The big picture on the left hand side is of one of the interactive boards. The picture of me and Jack (left) by the interactive TV. The picture right of this is a big vase. Its the biggest vase in the museum. In the web-vert, Sophie (the girl by the big vase) mentions its one of the biggest things in the museum. This is one of the the items in the museum which stands out and it also has a big part in our web-vert. The small picture about middle right is a picture of the wedgwood museum from the outside. The picture the opposite side of the building is the logo of the wedgewood museum and it is placed outside the main building. The small medallion is in the 20th century section. The picture of the man is Joshiah Wedgwood. Joshiah was the man that started Wedgwood of building the home place of the pottery.

I think that next time we should make sure we finish editing all our clips and putting the photos in quicker so we have more time in putting the animations in before and after clips. I think if we do that then it would be better. I also think we could of made our web-vert a bit longer next time because it was a bit short at 60 seconds. We intended to get the wow factor on the museum out and i think we have done that in our web-vert.
